Art Restoration & Conservation
Peter Van Ellis, founder and owner of Lawrence Art & Frame Gallery, has over 35 years of experience in the restoration and conservation of oil and acrylic paintings and sculpture. He studied at the Academy of Professional Art Conservation & Science in Sonoma, California and considers restoration and conservation as part of the same process; he says that his job "is not to make the work look new but to put it in the best shape possible" in order that it may last well into the future. He offers a number of services to preserve and protect your treasured art:
Cleaning: Removal of dust, dirt, grime, nicotine, smoke damage & yellowed varnish
Touch-up, Patching & Lining: repair of scratches, punctures, rips, flaking or missing paint and relining of extensively damaged canvases
Frame Restoration & Gold Leafing: gilding, antiquing & refinishing
Varnish & Conservation Backing: prevents additional damage
